Meet Kerri

Hi! Thank you for stopping by to visit! My name is Kerri and I started blogging in 2009 when my second daughter was born. Since then I have returned to teaching full time in the classroom but I still have a passion for blogging.
I love coffee, all things rustic, vintage, clean eating and simple living.

Soul Searching

A few weeks ago I was reading a blog post that eerily could have been my own words, because it expresses EXACTLY how I have been feeling lately. One of the things I have been trying to deal with is realizing the fact that I have grown apart from many of my friends. We no longer have the same interests and goals. And I have been feeling sad and lonely.

I though once I grew up, had my husband, home and two children, I would not feel this way, but I do. I feel like a school girl trying to be accepted by her peers.

So many of my fellow bloggers, GET IT. But so many of you live far away. In other states. Across the country. You and I have the same interests.

We love thrifting, decorating, crafting, laughing, drinking coffee, sipping tea, talking to God, just having fun. And I don't get to share that with nearby friends, because that is not who they are.

And so, as one friend who does GET IT puts it, I am soul searching. I am reading Calm My Anxious Heart and So Long Insecurity. I didn't think a 30-something stay at home mom would need this, but you know what? I do and that is ok.

And I keep praying to God that I find my Soul Sisters too!

  1. It's hard when life is not as you pictured it would be. Just a few years ago the hubs and I were feeling much the same way. We prayed for years for God to bring us like-minded friends and thought it took more time than I wished, He answered that prayer in an abundant way.

The God Who bottles our tears and yearns to give us the desires of our hearts will answer that prayer for you too. In the meantime, it is so refreshing to share our souls with our blog friends.

  6. Girl - I know how you feel! It's the coolest thing to connect with so many new bloggy friends who do "get it". And I can't believe how much I've been hearing about the Calm My Anxious Heart book.

Thanks for the encouragement this week. It truly has meant the world to me!

  7. Hi, I am visiting here from The Vintage Wren's blog. Your blog is beautiful!
I went through the same thing when I was in my 30's. God was changing me and my life, and there were things that needed to be changed, including friends. I went through a very lonely time, of my own choosing, and when I was ready I asked God to bring me some friends of His own choosing. Boy, did He ever!
I now, have a core group of women that are such an important part of my life! Best of all, we really love each other (it's not perfect, but very REAL :) ) and we PRAY for each other.
    God is faithful and good!
